The Longhouse Condominiums were the first condos in Oregon. They were developed by renowned John D Gray who also developed Sun River, Skamania, and John's Landing District in Portland. The Longhouse Condominiums were designed by Saul Zaik, one of the most influential architects in the Pacific Northwest. This unique, gated beach condominium I built around the natural elements of the Oregon Coast & features vaulted ceilings, skylights, and generous open floor plans. By analyzing the sun patterns of the area Zaik constructed a pyramid-shaped building, angled with the daily path of sunlight to create pristine natural light in the building. The Longhouse Condos were designed as the flagship architecture in the early 1960's. The units are ocean front, with panoramic views and walk out access to the private beach. The exteriors have been very well maintained, including cedar shingle siding, comp roofing, good quality vinyl windows and sliders, wood decks, and rip rap protecting the ocean front bluff.
